    Re: 2012 350 Mag Bravo 3

I assume that you are hoping for a better answer than the "washer solution"? If you would kindly supply the engine and drive serial numbers it would be helpful.

    Re: Leak issue help

You cannot know if the transom is rotten just by visual inspection. You need to do a plug test to determine this. It involves cutting out a plug with a hole saw and having that core sample analyzed....

    Re: Leak issue help

Your life, but I wouldn't take that thing out again until I have the repairs done. Boating costs money. Pay the man.

    Re: 3.7 to 5.7

The wood used in boat construction for stringers etc is not structural, it's merely a cheap form to lay fiberglass roving over to form a beam or stiffener. Often you see dimensional lumber like 2x10...
  6. Re: Could water ears flood a mercruiser v8 if engine not running ?

Is the donor block a Vortex and you're using non vortex intake or vise versa?

Re: flushing bravo gen V stern drive

Soooo, what changed between the time when you winterized it (I assume that you ran antifreeze through it until it came out the prop) and now (halfway through summer) when it appears that it is...
  8. Re: RPM limits for operating -4.3 Alpha 1, Gen 1

Your top speed increase will not be dramatic. between 0 and 5 knots more is about all you should expect. Remember, the engine is hitting a wall at wide open...a combination of its horsepower, torque,...
  9. Re: 5.0 EFI hard to start / shuts off / won't rev under load

Stop chasing unicorns and look for horses.
Do a tune up. That's cap rotor wires plugs, timing check. If that fails to remedy you've done the mandatory yearly anyway so you haven't lost anything.

  10. Re: RPM limits for operating -4.3 Alpha 1, Gen 1

Two things. One, prop selection is an art, not a science. That is, you may have to give up a little here to gain more of what you want there. Yay now you have excellent hole shot because you more or...
  11. Re: Mercruiser 5.7l EFI - Starter Replacement - Yellow/Purple Wire

Your EFI should start in half a spin. You have some kind of problem but no idea what.
  12. Re: Trim Intermittently Working/Battery Drains

Trim has three control wires coming from helm going to trim solenoids. Red/white, green/white, blue/white. The red supplies 12V to the solenoids and the green and blue are the uppy-downy control...

Re: 7.4 MPI 454 Block swap

A remanufactured engine is not expensive if you do the work to install. A 454 is about $3500-4000. I would replace the engine and put on new exhaust manifolds and elbows just to be sure that it will...

    Re: 3.0 performance upgrade

Boat engines do not behave the way car engines do. Port work benefits only at the top end where air flow is at max and you're trying to flow more. Since boat engines are literally incapable of ever...
  18. Re: Hydrolocked my 4.3 Merc. Now it won't accelerate

You probably did some internal engine damage. Hydro locking in many cases results in bent connecting rods. Only a teardown can confirm. Compression test not definitive.

Rubber expansion type plug is easy to install without moving the engine at all.
