    I have had this same exact problem on my 200 before. It's a mess, especially if your valves get bent. I had to replace all 24 valves with new seals. You will get to know that outboard very well...

    It's a no brainer, but are the replacement shaft lengths are the same as the original length? A thought also comes to mind that maybe the shaft key on the impeller is not placed properly.

    Been there and done it on the exhaust manifolds. It's easy and will fix it for good, just be patient and take your time. I was able to find SS helicoils at Oreilly auto fyi

    I've taken mine out before by prying the tabs with screw drivers from the inside then pulling really hard with needle nose pliers.

    FYI the pump can be purchased separately from the VST unit and sells for about $200.If you go this route, make sure you replace the strainer that hold the pump, along with the o-rings that house it.
