    You are incorrect!
I am in Pro-Active Damage Preventative mode.

    Re: timing early 350/5.7

    Thank you, O2!

Jim, O2batsea has found a Crusader Service Manual for you in PDF format.

According to PDF page 63, and if no one has changed pistons in your engine, your engine will be fitted...
  9. Re: 327F enginehow do I know if it is RH or LF rotation

Cylinder head combustion volume along with piston dish volume, determines the Static Compression Ratio.

    Clarification:
.....Flat Top pistons (minus valve reliefs) do not offer any dish volume. ...

FYI.... you have posted to an old thread from back in September of 2006.
It's always best to start a new fresh thread for your specific topic.

But since we're here...... I agree with Mark.

    Mark mentioned mid 60s.
FYI..... if these are mid 60s SBC engines, then they may not have the GM Full Dished pistons in them.

Here is an example ONLY of what you will be looking for.

    Re: timing early 350/5.7

Jim, your concerns will be with 3 aspects of ignition advance.

1..... BASE or Initial, of which is the amount of degrees that the cylinders see at/near idle RPM.
We fire up on BASE, and we idle...

In my opinion, using electric heaters for freeze protection will only be as good as are your chances of NOT undergoing a power outage.

As Dieter suggested, drain all seawater (as per your OEM...

    Re: serial numbers?

With the AQ series (minus the correct reduction), all lower units are interchangeable.
If were to install a Duo Prop lower unit, you will need an AQ series in the 1.95:1.
