    typically, rapid belt wear on a marine V-belt is due to the pulley(s) being corroded....the telltale is a line of 'belt dust' on the bilge floor in line with the belt...

    Based on a quick glance at the lubriplate data sheet, I'd say you would be ok with a synthetic based oil that meets the GL-5 and the ISO viscosity grade of 68....again, I'd say Walters is the best...

    It would be best to scan the ECM to see what is going on....without the tool, there's not much you can do.

    I would verify you have +12VDC to the coil with the key on - D terminal and a good ground...

    a 1989 454 would be a MarkIV block which would mean the electric fuel pump was a retrofit. It would normally be wired with an Oil Pressure Switch (not a sensor).
