    Re: 470 mercuriser

Well if the block isn't cracked those cam seals are your best bet. It's a common & well known issue on that 470. That's why Merc pulled them off the market.

    Re: 470 mercuriser

Re: Mercuiser 5.7 Sputtering and stalling

I used a battery operated pump from Harbor Freight to suck out the old gas, dumped some Gumout in & shook the tank to clean it. I let it sit overnite then vacuumed it out again. That's how I did & it...

Re: Mercuiser 5.7 Sputtering and stalling

Your boat is an '88 & I'd be surprised if there wasen't sediment in your tank. A few years ago I had to replace the floor in my boat & when I pulled the fuel sender for a look see sure enough there...

You can jump it till the cows come home, if the battery is dead or a cable has a bad connection you're pissing in the ocean.

    Re: 1987 omc 2.3l Ford 232amftc distributor

This website lists one for $650. but it's NLA. Now you know why the po sold you a boat with the wrong distributor. Try fleabay.

So you bought a 32 year old boat without even running it?

Re: OMC Cobra 2.3 liter Smoke/steam

You'd need a container the size of your boat to submerge the lower unit so your idea won't work. Run it on muffs & make sure their tight against the intake. Have you ever run that impeller dry? Do...

    Re: OMC 4.3L starting issues

If any moisture found it's way into dist. cap it won't start. And points are cheap, change em out with a new rotor.
