Re: BF 15 battery cable extension

I'd steer you to reconsider the wire....yes, a "marine grade" is best but there are many option between there and big box battery (auto) cables. The biggest is the stranding.....many fine strands...

    Re: Trolling motor battery question

Ideally, you want the battery capacity (size) to meet your needs. Those units are AMP*HOURS. if you need 'smaller' cases, you can physically split your source into two or more units but you will have...
  3. Re: Need cam specs for 454 model 350 cam shaft

If the RH engine hasn't been rebuilt, it will have the gear drive.

Keeping the gear drive will allow you to keep interchangeability with the distributors on both engines....

    Re: Alternator Exciter circuit questions

The excitation circuit requires little current and typically doesn't care about a specific voltage level....so most installations use a switched battery supply. 16Ga wire is adequate for most marine...
  5. Re: Need cam specs for 454 model 350 cam shaft

Velvet Drives (72 series) have output rotation that matches the Input rotation as a rules....either way they are not rated for full power reverse.
  6. Re: Need cam specs for 454 model 350 cam shaft

I gave you the Melling numbers for the standard production marine camshafts over six weeks ago....and I don't see where they matter if you are going to upgrade to a roller cam...and the RH engine's...

    Re: Please help

a wet distributor cap can cause the popping noises you described....so can a leaking valve....
  10. Re: Greasing boat helm and steering cables—what are the options?

Its usually best to replace the steering cable...they wear on the inside.

Your choice of grease is more than adequate for the helm assembly, just use it sparingly. I'd be inclined to inspect the...
  11. Re: Serial Number Location on an Interceptor 165 HP Engine from 1967

Going on second hand info, a mid 60's interceptor should have an ID plate at the base of the carb...

Earlier ones (50's vintage) typically had the serial number stamped into the 'timing cover'...
  12. Re: 2001 Bayliner Ciers Express Windshield Ass. NEEDED

Your best bet would be somebody like UPD Plastics.....it won't be cheap or quick but you don't have many options....
  13. Re: 440 Mopar marine slow cranking, timing, wiring, need help

Wiring is pretty basic and details can be found in the service manual.

As far as "slow cranking" goes, there are multiple possibilities. I'd suggest starting with the battery - make sure it is...
  14. Re: Guardian Alarm at 3K RPM, Exhaust Steam, Possible Overheat

Why not share what the ECM scans revealed?
  15. Re: Guardian Alarm at 3K RPM, Exhaust Steam, Possible Overheat

Why not get both engine ECUs scanned before through a small fortune of new parts into it?

For less than one heat exchanger costs new, you could get a pretty capable system from RINDA....
  16. Re: Being a Boy Scout or a Pointless addition

Piecing together what your configuration is, assuming its factory standard production, you can't have the issue you perceive.

Adding some punctuation can only help to clarify your thoughts.
  17. Re: 8.1 re-power update and question on camshaft timing before start

    Congrats on the first half!

I would call that one done, once your punch list items are done. there is no 'cam breakin' required with roller lifters....You need to load the engine to do the...

    Re: PA Salvage title?

Regarding the salvage title, I think a lot depends upon the ultimate 'home' for the boat...If you want to take it to CA for good, I'd check with your local office (for registration) about whether...

    Re: Endurance c-2-55 power source

If what you have is a MinnKota trolling motor, the power leads usually connect to the switch, in the 'head' at the top of the tube. The leads pass thru the bottom housing of the head.

    As far as...
