    Alpha or Bravo drive??? If Bravo, need to drain water out of the (engine mounted) raw water pump... disconnect the hoses and crank the engine for a few seconds.

    When I finally got my mercarb cleaned 100% etc... I set the idle mixture to the default setting ( 3 1/2 turns out..... for my engine) and the engine ran fine.

    My mercarb's bowl will dry out after a sitting idle for a week in warm weather, or 2 weeks when cool..... evaporation.

    If correctly set up...
    1) The cable inner core extends fully ( end almost touches bottom of cavity) when in FWD
    2) Cable retracts fully when in reverse.
    3) Cable jacket is clamped to drive housing...
