    Re: Sensors

I didn’t replace any sensors except trim sensors on my last two boats. The trim I wouldn’t do until you get into doing the bellows. It sounds like you are doing the annual maintenance and will likely...

Re: Chevy 5.7 Stuck inlet valve.

    as usual great post Chris.

SBC286 the blow by oil in the flame arrestor is normal. Iíve seen it on both the 3.0 and my newer 5.0. I tend to drive mine pretty hard lots of towing for water sports...
  4. Re: Complete impeller and bellow kit for my Mercruiser 1.7 alpha one gen two

Would recommend you get OEM mercruiser parts as they tend to last longer than aftermarket for these two items. Not only eBay and amazon offer them but our host site here sells the too.

    if you...

Re: Coupler - Engineered Marine Products

Never used them as I prefer OEM merc but I’ve seen many listings on eBay and webpages listing manufacture as EMP. On a coupler I wouldn’t save a few bucks on a coupler if you’re paying to have the...
  6. Re: What drive did this have or i should put on?

Not an alpha the sea water pump gives it away as a bravo set up. With duals you could use bravo ones and avoid any of the corrosion issues associated with bravo iiis

    Re: 383 Inboard(V-Drive)build

That’s exactly the coated intake I was thinking of. That powder coating should keep it looking new a long time
  10. Re: Thermostat housing gasket leaking on gm350 mpi engine

Yes just make sure you keep an eye on the coolant level while it’s still leaking otherwise it will overheat .

    Re: 383 Inboard(V-Drive)build

ok aluminum is probably better given the nature of you build. You may want to consider one that is coated like the Some of the Edelbrocks to combat corrosion of bare aluminum on the outside. While...

Re: Do carbureted engines have a steady idle?

In first post, OP stated he replaced this engine with an MPI engine, so doubt he can check the advance mechanism anymore
  13. Re: Thermostat housing gasket leaking on gm350 mpi engine

No -only way to get water in oil is if the water passage below the thermostat is rotted out

Re: Do carbureted engines have a steady idle?

I have had carbureted engines idle very smoothly. Likely carb or ignition items were an issue but if you get the need to replace the engine any high wear engine where compression is significantly...

    Re: 3.0 carburator gasket

Yes it had (like allmercarbs) a single idle screw. The TKS which came out later also has a single idle screw but a,so has an enrichment valve on bowl. I found it strange to use the two hole gasket on...

    Re: Aluminum hull repair help

The first photo almost looks like floatation foam is showing through? I’d find a welder and have it repaired that way. Our neighbors Starcraft got a stress crack that a guy welded up quickly and...
  18. Re: Necessary parts to replace in the outdrive?

As bondo mentioned not sure what your working on but given the age of the drive since omc closed up decades ago, I’d have the drive pressure tested and replace seals if fails. Possibly the drive has...
  19. Re: No Start - Spark at Coil - No Spark at plugs

Ok could see that happening for sure, but would think he would see spark as you must have to retime your blazer, Or a backfire, or spark coming out of center post of coil to ground.

    one time I...

Re: A few questions about my lower unit

To do gimbal bearing you need a slide hammer to pull it and an alignment tool to check motor alignment

I have done it with out the slide hammer with a 1/2” threaded rod a couple fender washers...
