    Re: 318 rebuild advice

    Agreed.
There is a reason for the markings.

Most 318/360 engines (or most any engine for that matter) are standard LH Rotation.
As each piston undergoes it’s power stroke, the entire connecting...

    Re: AQ280PT drive shaft/double bearing

Sam, the OEM may give you several options for the rolling torque value and the procedure. Be sure to use the correct one and that you understand it.

One procedure may call out for a center-force...

    Re: AQ280PT drive shaft/double bearing

NOTE: the reason for the grease cavity "pre-fill" (while spinning the PDS), is to ensure that no air is left trapped inside of the cavity.
We want a full cavity so that any future grease is able to...
  6. Re: Sierra electronic distributor for 318

They show it as a Mallory YLM579AV replacement.

The M in the YLM = magnetic, of which means that it's a VR unit.
    VR = Variable Reluctor.

I will take VR triggering over photo-eye triggering...

Now, in the past O2bat has alluded to "who gets the last word", and he has done so several times.
He is also envious of what he calls "High Post Counts", and has alluded to that many times.

Re: Crank mounted raw water pump wobble

Bob, I asked about the SS bolts because in certain applications, they can become brittle, can fatigue and snap off.
For what you are using them for, you are most likely OK.

    Carbon steel bolts...

    Re: OMC 3.8 and WLOD

The outboard engine bracket will "cantilever" the outboard engine past the transom.
Even though the outboard engine will weigh less, this effectively adds weight to the stern.

It would be helpful if you would post a few photos of these Engines.
