Glue for fuel connections.

Hi Guys, I have 3 Johnson motors, therefore 3 fuel tanks, one is fitted to my 20' hard boat and the fuel line goes through a grommet
on the stern, the problem I have is that I have 2 different connections on the tanks.
I decided to swap all 3 connection to the old Mercury type push/twist, the threaded connections on the tanks don't seem to be sealing
good enough, I bought one Mercury female connect from a dealer and it is fixed in with some kind of glue/resin, I have searched ebay
for this glue/resin and nothing comes up.
My question is, what glue/resin can I use to get a fuel tight connection of the metal taper thread into the plastic female part on the tank?

Rook66, I have not tried teflon tape, I did try HD yellow gas tape. Because of my first comments I didn't think
of another tape.
As I said the new female connection I purchased the taper thread was certainly resin fixed, but I can't find a
glue/resin any where, have you any idea what the trade use?

Many thanks for the reply.

Blue Locktite Screwlock. Use activator/primer if the metal part is not brass. Brass is it's own activator, though.
