Brass Components in Carbs Getting Eaten Away

Hello all.

I've been busy with my J35TEL3EEM 35Hp 3-cyl 2-stroke Johnson recently. The work included removing the aluminium plug at the base of the carb body near the main jet so that the bottom of the emulsion tube was exposed for thorough cleaning.

For all three carbs, I noticed the plastic float bowl had a green coloured film to them that was difficult to remove. The base of the brass emulsion tube and the main fuel delivery tube were pitted by corrosion. This made me think the green stain in the bottom of the float bowls was actually from the corrosion process.

Has anyone noticed a similar thing before?
