Main Breaker pops

I have a marine power 350 carbureted engine. When the engine is cold and I start the engine it starts fine runs for a minute or two then pops the main breaker.. I turn the key off and reset the breaker and everything starts and works fine with no problems after that... I check the obvious things like tight connections plugs seated correctly etc. What would draw that much only on startup? Sticky relay somewhere?

It could be the breaker is failing.....I'd suggest using a clamp on DC amp meter to verify the current draw is excessive....

Usually, the alternator is a likely suspect - its one of the few things connected directly to the +12VDC main line.....
