I just got a Seloc repair manu

I just got a Seloc repair manual so that I can remove the lower unit and replace the water pump and I'm reading the directions and looking at the lower unit making sure that I compleatly understand all the bolts and locations to remove to disconnect the lower unit. I noticed that the shifting linkage rods runs up out of the lower unit in front of the shaft all the way up to the shifting cables. My question is now were in the manual does it tell you to remove any of that. So if I removed all the bolts to remove the lower unit it would not come all the way off. I'm using the Seloc On-line manual.

Could anyone help me??

Thank You!!

The shift rod is on a splined

The shift rod is on a splined shaft so there is nothing to remove. If you have all 5 bolts out you will have to work it up and down until it releases. The drive shaft is probably rusted in.

"neutral is the best, but it can be a pain to get the drive shaft lined back up if not in gear. you just have to turn it with a pair of pliers as you put the lower unit back up. hope this helps"
