Clipper module

Hi have a evinrude 1971 100 up outboard do you need the clipper module on it and what does it do as most amplifier packs say to remove it why

The Clipper was designed to protect the ignition system from voltage surges of the charging system. It did more harm than good so OMC issued a bulletin to remove it.
