Reed valve replacement on Johnson 70 hp 1982

Hi to those on forum. I have a 1982 johnson 70 hp model#J70ELCNB. I'm trying to replace the reed valves because there is no low end torque. They list them as unavailable in the parts breakdown. Will 2001 reed valve sets work in this motor if they are bought for 70 hp motor? If anyone knows if there is an interchange for them. Thanks Hutch1955

The reed valves are very reliable.-----Rarely need to be changed !------------Do you have the correct prop on this motor that suits the boat and what you do with it ?----------Have you done a compression test ?---------Have you checked for spark on all plug leads ?------Doubt that new reeds will solve your problems.
