Volvo White Sealing Compound Vs. Perfect Seal

In the past, assembling 280 drives I used Evinrude/Johnson Sealing compound, or Mercruiser Perfect Seal between the upper/intermediate and intermediate/lower aluminum surfaces OUTSIDE of the O-rings. This seemed to work well.

Assembling a DP drive the manual calls for Volvo White Sealing Compound P/N 1141570-0 between these surfaces and AROUND the O-rings and surfaces of the entire lower unit carrier assembly. Will Perfect Seal work here? I have read that some people use grease here, but I fear grease may cause the O-rings to slip out of position during assembly.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Quicksilver "Perfect Seal" is excellent! It does what we expect it to do.

I'd not use the white product nor grease!
