Hello,
i have a question that pertains to the gears in a 175hp stringer lower unit..it's mated up with a 5.0 ford in a 1977 reinell cuddy,
my cavitation plate is broken off on the on side of my lower unit and this has been causing me to have problems getting up on plane. I found a lower that came from a v6, it's the exact same profile and size of my 175 outdrive, but it's from a V6. Anyone know if I could swap just the lower units out without causing myself any other issues? Or would I need to swap out all the gears and etc to the lower unit that has its cavitation plate in tact?
