73 850 new aftermarket parts?

Recently acquired a boat for free. Motor runs. However the shift cable is seized. When I opened the control box parts went flying everywhere.

Does anyone know of a new control box I can replace mine with?

Also looking to replace the tilt/trim complete pump motor reservoir if anyone know of one that will work and if any modifications are required. I can't seem to find one that has 4 hoses and 2 relays like mine.

Thanks.

The cables are available from Mercury they're super smooth in operation; measure the old ones first.
Here's an exploded view of the box put some Merc 2-4-C with Teflon on the moving parts

Buy an aftermarket unit like a CMC.
I'll take a look. Thanks

I'm not sure what all fell out of mine when I took it apart. I know there's some springs that came out and I need a new harness. Wire insulation is mostly gone and wires corroded. Found that from CDI.

Figured might be cheaper to get something new that came with the harness rather than fixing the one I have, if someone made one.

I'll use this diagram to see what fell out of mine. Do you have a link or where I can find the parts at?

How much slack do you have in the wiring? If you have a foot or more of good cable just solder the new wire on to the switch, choke and neutral safety switch.
The only place I've seen that type is on ebay. Mercury has a manual for the controls called "MerControls".

I don't have 6" of good wire 🤣.

Insulation is mostly gone. It was all wrapped in electrical tape. I connected a new battery, which promptly melted down from the power and ground that were shorted together under the electrical tape.

The engine harness side was the same. I made a new harness for that. Suppose I could do the same on the boat side.

I'll see if I can get the parts for the control box and put that back together. Needs a key switch as well, full of corrosion.

Do you mean that there's only 6" exposed? if so cut all the bad wires and strip the outer cover back until you find good ones then solder those ones. If you can find a Mercury dealer near you maybe you can pick up a box.

No, I'm saying there's not even 6" that's any good.

I talked to local Mercury dealer. Wasn't any help at all. Tried to sell me a Yamaha.

I attached a picture of my controls. Only springs I see are the detent spring. I did find 1 of the springs.

Looks like it's for the warm up lever. Should I even worry about that?

Also missing the detent roller spring for the main control. I'll get a new one of those.

Nevermind. Not sure how the detent springs for the warm up would come out. The plate is still being the lever.

I have no idea where those springs are from.

yup the newer style box should work. how many pins in your plug, Something like this.
7 pin. That's what I cant find is a 7 pin.

I can always wire it how I want, make my own harness. Just worried about the throttle/shift linkage connection. I read a review on a Vevor brand I think it was, where it was opposite of what the guy had on his boat. Pull vs push throttle I think it was. Had to take the cam out of his old one and put it in the new one
