Trying to do a good deed for my nephew: his gearcase had a bit of water in it.
Got all the parts cleaned and replacement parts put in.
When I put the prop shaft seal back into the gearcase head/bearing it went it more easily than I expected. I checked the dia against the old seal and they were a match. I then put some bellows adhesive on the outer edge to help it seat and finished the install.
I then pressure tested at about 7psi and after a few seconds I lost pressure and saw that the prop shaft seal had been pushed out.
I pulled the seal out and plan to put a replacement back in: my question is, should I use a different product than bellows adhesive to make sure it sit firmly and won’t pop back out?
