J25reda not starting

Got this engine second hand. Non running, has been rebuilt. Had an issue with head and fixed that. Replaced fuel lines and a few other things. Hooked gas and water up, backfired once then remembered I had wrong plugs in, changed those, gapped to .030 and still nothing. Have spark and good compression.. 105# on both cylinders. Where to next?

How are you priming on the motor ?----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on a test device?------Going to check the flywheel key ?------Put 6-1/2 drops of fuel in each sparkplug hole.----Put plugs in and try and pull on recoil 10 times to start it.----Report what happens.

I am pumping the fuel line bubble til hard then pulling the manual primer on engine 3-4x and then pulling rope. We had just checked to see if it was sparrking. It has a good spark. I'll try some gas in cylinder and see what happens.

I am not there to see or touch your motor.----It would be a simple fix for me.---I have any and all pieces to fix it.

So I've decided it's either a sheared key or timing is off. It's showing that it's 5° before TDC. I dont have tools here to take flywheel off to be sure. I'll report back more.. I found TDC And thr flywheel was at the 5° mark according to the line on the recoil as found in the service manual

I wasn't using a timing light. I was manually checking timing using marks on the fly wheel after finding TDC with the plugs out. I have to take the fly wheel off to find the sheared key, which I don't have the tools here to take off. I have a buddy who is gonna come help at a later time.

You can not find a sheared key with a timing light.
So I haven't taken the flywheel off yet, as the weather has been pretty bad the last few days and life hasn't meshed up like it should, I've been reading. Reading my previous post about the timing, and reading my service manual.. its starting to make more sense, as this thing just wont "jump" time because the flywheel is indexed to the crankshaft. With that woodruff key you told me about .I have a suspicion it could probably be sheared after diagnosis, but gotta borrow the tools needed. thanks for the guidance so far, I hope the weather clears up so i can get back out to messing with it.

its my understanding that the crank shaft won't turn if the key is shredded. couldn't you look in the sparkplug hole to see if the pistons are moving?

Going to check the flywheel key ?
Went ahead and pulled the flywheel off today. Key was fine. Messed with it for a while after that. Still no crank. Felt like I pulled til I was gonna pull my arm our of socket haha. Gonna do some reading in the manual tonight and break out the timing light if time permits tomorrow (honey do list is getting long)

Got er going now!! Looked at wiring diagram, coils  were hooked up backwards. 2 pulls and running. Hooked up to muffs, water spewed out of the thermostat plate. Got one here at the house already. Gonna get a new thermostat while I'm at it and just put a new one in while I've got it apart.
