My 55 hp chrysler, I'm having trouble with firing, 1 cylinder has good spark, the other has no spark. I've got new plugs and have tested both old school, remove plug, ground and turn over engine. Top wasn't firing but bottom was, so I lightly taped top coil and it started working, now the bottom won't fire and the top is working, tapping the bottom coil doesn't help. Any suggestions?

More info please??? What ignition system? Points or CDI(Magpower)?
Usually an older model needs the flywheel removed and the points cleaned/ filed down.
Pics if possible.?

It's a points system. I'm just today able to get back to it, started by checking grounds and did find a loose one, tightened it up but it didn't seem to be the problem, in the process found that the back end of the coil is cracked all the way through, would that prevent it from firing? I've got the part number but it's no longer available so I'm not sure about an upgrade or replacement. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

To check the coils: swap them around and see if the spark follows the good coil.
Try Franz marine for the hard to find stuff.
Also Google: Force Outboard Parts Or Chrysler Outboard Parts. That opens a ton of places that sell Force/Chrysler parts.
If the coil tests good?? You can seal it with liquid rubber or something similar.
The points might need to be filed , sanding might not be enough.
Good luck.
