Went out to clean up the boat this afternoon and when I lowered the tilt on the motor it start pouring oil down the lower unit. It's a 1998 that I've had for a few years now. I've gotten my money's worth, but wondering if this is worth fixing or if I should start shopping for something newer.

In that post, they talk about the breather leaking but I think the breather is part of the valve cover???
There is a breather tube...item 29 in the link below:

I think that tube connects to the silencer/muffler but I can't see exactly where. Maybe the tube is cracked/split?

The other post. I saw was about the camshaft seal leaking. But that post was very short with no additional information provided about what was done or if it ever got fixed.

There are others about 130hp and 225 hp if you care to read them. Just hit the search (little magnifying glass) right side of the blue tool bar at the top of this page and type in " leaking oil when trimmed up ".

Check all usual suspects like.oil filter adapter and dipstick tube.

One guy actually found a hole in his oil pan on a 130hp. and there was some discussion about pulling the starter to look for a leak at the flywheel and about a vent tube leaking near the oil filter. That had a picture of the 90° metal tube.

Maybe Ian has seen this before and will give you the answer.

Good luck
