    Mercury 9.8 Starting problems

    My motor sometimes starts on the first pull, sometimes not at all. Sometimes it starts, but then dies. Since this is new for me, I would like to know what the correct starting procedure is, on cold or hot days. When it runs, it runs fine. So please help me get it started.

    Propeller shaft jammed, connecting bolts broken. Now what?

    I must have run over something because my propeller shaft is totally jammed. The transmission appears OK because the 4 connecting bolts broke. My question is: Are these special bolts that are supposed to shear in order to save the transmission?

    smoke at higher RPM

    Both of my Lehman 135s are showing some smoke as the rpm increases. At 2000 rpm it is quite pronounced. The color is white/blue, actually more white than blue. At idle it is not detectable. The engines have 3800 hrs and use almost no oil. I am just wondering if I should be concerned about this.

    Injector removal advice

    I want to have the injectors on my Lehman 135 checked. I would like to remove and reinstall them myself. Any advice on how to do this and what to look out for? Thanks

    Tachometer sensor location

    I am trying to replace a tachometer. There are different tachs depending on the type of signal from the engine. So far I am unable to find the source of the signal. I checked the alternator as well as various places around the engine without luck. Any and all help appreciated.

    How to bleed engine fuel filters

    This sounds like a dumb question, but humor me because I am new at this.There are 2 fuel filters on the side of my Lehman 135 engine. I replaced the cartridges , but now it's full of air and I don't see a way to bleed it. Any suggestions?

    old diesel fuel still ok?

    Just bought a boat with 2 Lehman 135 engines. Problem is, the boat has been sitting with tanks half full for 2 years.Am I looking for trouble running the boat as is? Would it help to add more fresh fuel or is there some additive that would freshen the fuel?
