I bought a 13 ft Boston Whaler with a 2007 Mercury 15 hp 4 stroke long shaft on it.
While it would start right up, when you increase the throttle, the engine dies.
Seller replaced fuel lines and bought a new fuel pump.
So far this has been my experience:

Hello,
The throttle on my new to me boston whaler / 15 hp 4 stroke has a four to five inch dead zone between when I put it into forward at idle, and when the engine starts to throttle up above idle.
Where would I start on making the throttle more responsive?
Hello,
I just bought a 13 ft Boston Whaler GLS with the above motor on it. Motor runs great, but I'm curious as to why there is no Mercury logo on the cowling.
I've seen motors like this before on Craigslist and wonder what it means?
I recently purchased a 1995 Mariner 9.9 HP 2 stroke.
I noticed the water flow from the pee tube was not steady and didn't seem to be of sufficient volume.
To fix this, I replaced the impeller, but the water flow still isn't a steady stream.
Can someone with more experience give me some...
I'm reconditioning my 84 Mercury 25 HP 2 stroke, and can't figure out what parts 3 - 7 actually do. They don't seem to affect the running of the engine, but I want to fix it back to original condition.
I adjusted the idle on my 4hp 4 stroke and it idled fine for awhile, then it started to rev up. I then backed it off and it lowered the idle. As I continued to back the idle screw off, the engine then started to rev again.
While this is occurring, and I throttle to slow, the revs don't go...
I was given a Mariner 9.9 hp 2 stroke and want to recondition it, but I can't seem to find a place on the internet where I can plug the serial number in and find the model / year.
The serial number is: 0G202509
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Hello,
I was given a Mariner 9.9 hp 2 stroke (not sure what year) that appears to be in good condition. It starts on the first or second pull and runs strong.
However, it weeps an oily film out of the exhaust ports when running . Is this normal, and if not, what is this a symptom of?
I have a 1984 Mercury 25 HP 2 stroke that is missing badly at idle, but not noticeable at higher speeds.
When I idle, it makes a loud bang/poof sound along with a high whistle. It also makes a screeching sound sometimes.
What do I need to do to correct this?
Hello, and thanks for adding me to the forum.
I recently purchased an 11 foot Avon RIB with a 1984 Mercury 25 hp 2-stroke.
I had the engine serviced (Plugs and water pump replaced, lower unit oil replaced, carb rebuilt) and the tech said that he saw a little leakage of water in the lower unit...
