    '1996 Johnson 88hp, starter

    The starter runs, but when it engages the flywheel it won't turn the engine over, it is almost like a slipping clutch. the starter tries to turn the engine and it might turn one rotation of the starter motor gear, I can hear the starter motor turning at a high speed. Any Ideas?

    I have a new to me boat and it came with a Johnson 88 SPL 2-cycle Motor The boats tank was half full of very old gas and the motor would not start, I removed 25 gallons of what I estimate to be 30-35 gallons and add 20 gallons of 91 octane gas The motor started right up Yay :) The pee holes...
