Yeah an external examination of the lines isn't always good enough as the liner can detach and collapse when fuel is pulled through.... But externally it looks fine.
Finally got round to ordering a few bits from Yumbo (2 x O2 sensors and high/low pressure fuel filters) for this year and next.
Good service and cheap.... Not had a customs bill 😛
(UK)
I'll definitely use again.
I'm not too good with electrics so maybe you can help...
The rev counter for my BF225 is over reading above 2k revs, but at idle it seems OK. When I turn the engine off it drops down to 1000 rather than zero.
When I turn the inginion back on it drops back to zero.
At the same time my tilt...
If you've never change the HP fuel filter then it's definitely time to.
I believe it can cause all sorts of problems and I change mine every year just in case.
Once my boat goes on the water I'd like it to stay there for about 4 months!
And as CH says... There's not a lot you can do while the...
I use an IBC tank with the top cut off.
700L of water allows me to run my 225 for quite a while before it starts getting warm.
Another benefit of an IBC is that I can leave it filled and move it around with my pallet truck.
Not a big fan of muffs and apparently they can't supply enough water...
So it seems that I can get two Honda O2 sensors for the same cost as a single walker sensor here in the UK!
So I will soon be putting in an order for those plus a few high and low pressure fuel filters.
Thanks @iang6766 .... That bit of information was very helpful.
Well that's very interesting.... shipping rates are good so I think I'll be using them for a couple of O2 sensors and some fuel filters (I'll have to keep below the UK import duty threshold)
Thanks for the info.
I'm sure you're right.... Unfortunately I can't get a walker sensor in the UK right now!
My sister is going to Florida before Xmas so I'm going to order some stuff from boats.net that she can bring back.
I didn't know that about the newer motors consumption.... That's disappointing.
In my experience of failed O2 sensors on my 225 they will not alarm unless at idle.
Raised revs can increase the exhaust temperature which "may" allow the sensor to operate if it's just the heater circuit that's failed.
I was able to run at 1300rpm for 30 mins yesterday without any alarm - as...
Unfortunately, if I buy from boats.net, by the time I've paid shipping, import duty and tax I may as well get the Walker sensor which would arrive much, much quicker!
So here's another theory - I wonder if it's got legs:
When an O2 sensor fails the engine defaults to settings that are slightly rich and I think that sometimes it's just the heater element of the sensor that fails.
Whenever I get a failed O2 sensor alarm I can hear the engine revs drop as the...
Not sure...... maybe, but it's definitely around 4k rpm and it really is sudden change.
I don't remember it doing it previously.
Duff spark plug maybe? 🤷♂️
