Trying to get my idle quality sorted on 2010 75HP 2 stroke ELPTO

Trying to get my idle quality sorted on my 2010 75HP 2 stroke ELPTO serial no. 1B826880 however appears to be some confusing instruction in my Mercury service manual. Below instruction seems to suggest that #1 carb should be set at 1/4 turn and adjustment should be focused on #2 and #3...

Cleaning carburettors on 2011 Mercury 2 stroke 75hp ELPTO

Rebuilt carbs, completed lync and sync and ran on muffs for 5min. Noticed bottom carb as per attached photo.

Cleaning carburettors on 2011 Mercury 2 stroke 75hp ELPTO

Engine seems to be idling rough after first outing for season. I have owned from new but never cleaned carbs. Always use Quikleen and Quickare and never ethanol fuel. Decided to have go at removing and cleaning carburettors. Assume that other than possible idle mixture adjustments there are no...

75hp ELPTO 2 stroke run with just air in oil injection outlet hose

Replaced oil injection hoses (preventative maintenance). Bled oil pump inlet hose by loosening screw. Then as per manual ran outboard at idle for a few minutes with just air in outlet oil hose to try and bleed. Got nervous as didn’t see much oil flow. I shut down motor and disconnected oil...

2010 Mercury 75HP 2 stroke ELPTO alarm at WOT

on my last 2 outings an alarm has sounded when I ran at or above 5200rpm. Slowed to neutral and alarm stopped instantly. Alarm (continuous beep) would only sound again if I ran at WOT. All other speed/rpm ok. Water pump impeller replaced 6 months ago, thermostat and poppet diaphragm replaced 18...

RTV cure time after water pump service before test run

Just serviced water pump on my Mercury 75HP ELPTO for the first time. All went like clockwork (thanks to advice and guidance from this forum). Used the red RTV as per manual. I ran motor on muffs about 2 hours later. Was that enough time for RTV to cure? Have that sinking feeling I should have...

75HP 2 stroke ELPTO 2010 lower unit remove & instal question about forward or neutral

I haven't done this before so I want to get it right before I start. Have watched lots of videos, read this forum and now I have what seems a contradiction in the service Mercury manual The Mercury service manual states: Disassembly of Lower Unit Shift engine into forward gear - OK Assembly...

Loctite red, blue or 2-4-c grease for lower unit threads and water pump bolts

There is a lot of conflicting opinion on this. What do you suggest for my Mercury 75HP 2 stroke?

HT leads for Mercury 75HP 2 stroke ELPTO

I'm after your thoughts on whether HT spark plug leads should be changed on a 'preventative' maintenance basis on 2 stroke outboards?

How often should I replace fuel pump diaphragm on a Mercury 75HP 2 stroke (75 ELPTO)?

How often should one replace fuel pump diaphragm on a Mercury 75HP 2 stroke (75 ELPTO)? I have noticed on recent trips (last month or so) that it feels like outboard is starting to 'surge' between 3500 - 4000 rpm. All OK at WOT. Something similar happened 2 years ago and service dealer replaced...

Using fast idle lever to start warm Mercury 75hp 2 stroke ELPTO outboard

Is it normal that I need to use (in most cases) fast idle lever in order to start my 75hp Mercury 2 stroke ELPTO (2010) outboard after it has sat for 30 min or more after a run? And will sometimes stall at idle when I am pulling up anchor? Restart and then ok after that.

2011 Mercury 75hp 2 stroke intermittent drop of 200rpm when cruising at 2000rpm

I have noticed recently that when travelling at 2000rpm I am getting an intermittent drop of 200rpm. It recovers instantly. Just drops for only a second. Only seems to happen when cruising at 2000rpm. Runs fine at WOT. My motor is a 2011 Mercury 75hp 2 stroke. Any ideas what could be causing this?

    2011 Mercury 75HP 2 stroke compression readings

So maybe I have too much time on my hands but I was looking at the service book of my 2011 Mercury 75Hp 2 stroke outboard and I noticed the last compression reading (taken last week) for cylinder 3 was 130psi. From new it was 140psi. Below are the readings taken during scheduled services since...

tacho not working 75hp 2 stroke Mercury

My tacho stopped working last time I used boat. Took it back to dealer to investigate. The battery was charging normally but tacho did not work. They said electrics at outboard was OK. They connected another tach which did not work so they suspected possible issue with wiring loom? They...

Ear muffs or flushing attachment. Which is better?

Is it better to flush outboard using ear muffs or the flushing attachment located in the rear of the outboard. My outboard is Merc 75hp 2 stroke and is used only n saltwater.
