2007 Bf115. Runs but has issues. HELP!

Sometimes folks (like me) forget to open the air valve on the auxiliary tanks. Just a heads up.

Honda 225 Outboard Ignition Issues - Won't Start

I assume that the new switch was Honda OEM, correct? Sounds like some of your injectors may not be firing..Check the fuses in your fuse box again. Don't just look at them, but pull them and test for open or any restance across the spades. Also, pull each of the three plugs going into the ECM and...

2007 Bf115. Runs but has issues. HELP!

I don't know a thing about the BF 115, BUT, my very first reaction is that you may have a clogged air vent to the fuel tank. Next time that happens, loosen the cap to the fuel tank so air can get in and see if that clears it up. If so, run a long piece of monofilament (like from a weed wacker)...

    Honda BF250 Oil Change Questions

My experience is with a 2007 BF 225, now with about 2350 hours on it. So, the below is based on my experience with that engine... Oil filters - if engines still in warranty, check with your dealer to see if non-Honda oil filters will violate the warranty. If not, then a good substitute is NAPA...

Honda 225 Outboard Ignition Issues - Won't Start

My memory is a bit foggy on this, but I think that the negative battery cable terminates at the starter. You should be able to follow it as it enters the engine compartment. Remove the clam-shell cover that all of the electric lines and fuel lines go through and follow the black wire. While...

Honda 225 Outboard Ignition Issues - Won't Start

That fuse location is dependent on the wiring harness you have. It will likely be close to where the harness starts branching to your gauges behind the console. Double check the ground wire to your new switch. Run a wire from battery negative. Measure the resistance between the end of that wire...

Honda 225 Outboard Ignition Issues - Won't Start

Make sure you didn't trip your kill switch. If in doubt, disconnect it. Retry. In your wiring harness, there is a 7.5 amp fuse. Find it and check it. See attached. Completely disconnect the battery for at least an hour, this MAY reset the ECU. Not sure, but worth a try.

Options to using a boat lift

Agree. The safest way to store a boat is on a lift, assuming large pilings and oversized cables. And no need to winterize as long as you drop the boat in the water about every month and let it run on the lift for 30 - 45 minutes, alternating between forward and reverse to keep the lower end well...

    2006 Honda BF225 Beeps warning

Is the alarm constant, long beeps (once per second) or short beeps (2 per second?) If you have the four-light key switch, see the first attachment to determine where to look. Pull fault codes. The second attachment tells you how. The third attachment tells you what the fault codes mean. Come...

2010 Honda BF225 starts immediately but dies as soon as the rpm’s fall from the initial start.

I've not ever done any maintenance or repairs while boat is in the water. My fat fingers would be bound to drop something overboard. However, the LP fuel filter should be fairly easy. The HP filter would be very difficult - you need to remove the two small Philips-head screws holding the AIB...

2010 Honda BF225 starts immediately but dies as soon as the rpm’s fall from the initial start.

Just guessing here... The first thing I would do is drain the VST into a clear bottle and see if any water or gunk settles out. If so, change or clean the low-pressure fuel filter. There is also the possibility that your high-pressure fuel filter has a problem. They go bad very quickly...

temp Guage on my 1999 BF50 Honda,

You can use a surface temp sensor. I did that on my 225 many years ago. I'll try to attach a writeup. The links may be out of date but easy to figure out. Main thing is to make sure that the sensor is compatible with the gauge.

Honda outboards and others: managing salt crystal build-up in outboard cooling pathways

Ian, Some of us dock our boats on a lift, so it is not possible to do a hot water flush with engine running. My experience is that I start flushing as the boat is being lifted, using the flush port (which I modified so that I can attach a fresh water hose at the back of the transom) for at...

    2006 Honda 200hp BF200A Constant Buzzee

Unless the water pump is nearly new, replace it - not just the impeller, but the whole thing - it's just about $100 more compared to the impeller and gaskets that come with the impeller kit.

    2006 Honda 200hp BF200A Constant Buzzee

Thermostat has nothing to do with "peeing." Typically, if not peeing either the telltale indicator is plugged, or your water pump has totally failed. First, make sure the telltale hose and nipples are clear. Then drop the lower end and thoroughly inspect the water pump. Make sure that the...
