It could be a seized upper gearbox/bearing as well if you cannot get it to turn over with a socket. Year and model#s
Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I swapped the bolts and the issue seems to have been corrected. I suspect that the lacquer coated bolts were preventing
Ok this weekend I took boat back after changing trigger coil but in the process had a lot of research going by books and forums motor is a 1985 inline
I have a "parts motor", if you need anything.
Upper crankshaft bearing failed...too much trouble to rebuild.
It had lost compression
If you don't notice any difference in performance, just run it.
