Single lever or dual lever control?
Is the coil hot to the touch when the engine is fully warmed up, & has this issue? Your coil could be breaking down
IMO, the rubbing block on the points, or the ignition module trigger which is attached to the Dizzy base has to be on, or closely coming up to a lobe
My engine starts up great and initially runs fine. Even if I run it without skiing it runs great. However, after engine is warmed up... the first skier
So are you saying that the engine should run OK even without a lanyard as long as the kill switch is in the up (i.e., on) position?
