Connecting rods upside down??? They are offset on that motor, with an "Up" side.
If it speeds up when fuel added its carb.. If not then possible reed problem or the rebuilder forgot to put seals rings on crank.
maybe the slave solenoid, especially its ground wire. the main ground at the engine being marginal could cause that behavior as well...
maybe....if there isn't a plate on the flywheel cover, then theres likely to be a decal on the rocker box with the same info....
