Now use an ohmeter to check resistance from the shaft at the bottom , to the commutator.--It should read infinity.-------To re-assemble if starter is
To simplify it:
install the new starter bolts and torque to spec WITHOUT THE STARTER
measure the distance from the block face to the bolt
Do not use the nose bolt,, find out why is dosent move.how much oil was lost, how much did you need to add to full mark.
if the block was smoking
Two things....I took my starter off and apart. It had all sort of black burnt smelling powder and pieces in the bottom of the starter.I took some pictures
