I had a blockage in my flush port from grounding on a mud flat, I ran the motor on muffs while running water in the flush port and the mud finally broke
My mid shaft bushing was almost as tore up as yours, I think its the corrosion that forms next to the rubber on the bushing that eats away the aluminum.
Well....if you installed the water pump correctly and you didn't dislodge the drive key (which is easily done sometimes btw) then my guess is that that
