When going full speed then slowing down the engine makes a clatering noise

I have a 1981 90hp Evinrude.

I have a 1981 90hp Evinrude. When going full speed and then slowing down it makes a clatering noise. what could this be? Any advice would help.

" Hey..Could very well be the motor mounts...with the engine down,grab the prop and pull straight back...should be very little motor movement there..if it seems excessive, then it is....replace the mounts... "
 
I have 2000 90hp johnson that

I have 2000 90hp johnson that does the exact same thing. Did anyone one find anything definite out?
 
from high speed to neutrel th

from high speed to neutrel the prop. will turn back wards you may be hearing the cluch dog rachiting
