" I have an older (1986) model Mariner 175. the tilt/trim works ok, but it bleeds down from the up position all the way down in about 5 minutes. It also seems to not trim all the way up under power. Any advise about what might be causing this and how to fix would be greatly appreciated "

" Jim, My Merc used to "Leak down" because the trim cylinder piston seal was bad. Replacement parts were avail from Mercury($30), and the labor was $50. This was some years ago.

Also, the motors had a safety switch to prevent excessive trim, under power. This switch may be out of adjustment. I recommend you fix the leakdown problem first then check the switch. "
