" I have '67 or '68 Me

" I have '67 or '68 Mercury 200 20 hp with tiller steering. I just got it and it has been sitting for 3yrs. Cranked right up, but i put in the water and it ran for half a day and then started reving high and i lost all my speed. It will go in reverse and seem to work okay. When you turn the prop by hand while its in reverse it turns the motor. When you turn the prop by hand when it is in forward gear it makes a clicking noise.
You still can troll around in fwd real slow it just seem to slip like a clutch when give it gas.
Is anyone fimilar with my problem.

mark the hub ( rubber bus

mark the hub ( rubber bushing inside the prop hub)
Scribe or mark with paint from where the prop shaft goes thru hub out to out side of metal part of hub and then put in the water. when it does it again if the marks are out of line then prop is spun. Take to a prop shop and have it fixed or you can get a new one
