" I have an 84' Evinrude 150 that has just recently developed a leak on one of the trim cylinders. The leak is on the outer edge, not around the shaft. I looks like the top can be removed with a spanner wrench. Is this an easy fix, or a job for a professional? Where can I buy the right seals or a seal kit online? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

"Chuck.... The outer trim seal

"Chuck.... The outer trim seals on each trim ram consist of:

1 - 319662 - "O" Ring (Approx $1.00)
1 - 321715 - Backup Ring (Approx $3.40)

For your reference, the inner (rod) seals on each trim ram consist of:

1 - 122494 - Wiper (Approx $3.45)
1 - 328227 - Quad Ring (Approx $2.60)

I'd suggest you do both caps (inner and outer) rather than go through the process again in a week or so.

The above items should be available at your local dealership.

In all probability, you could reuse the original backup ring, but it's best to replace it.

Coat the outside of the "O" Ring with Sealer 1000, available at any automotive parts type store, before installing the trim cap.
