I've got a Merc 9.8 (110) and the serial number is 7103800. Been having a hard time figuring out the year it was made.

I live in Canada so it may have been made here if that helps to know.

" I have a 1980 mecury 9.8 long shaft that I recently purchased as a kicker for my sailboat. I had the marina do a 100 hour service including a pump. When I put the boat in the water the motor pumps VERY little water at idle to cool the engine, it more or less just spits out, At higher rpm's it pumps ok but not a steady stream. The marina says this is normal for an older merc. Does this seem normal to you?? The motor is in nice shape otherwise. thanks, jack "
