" I own a 1984 18' Boston Whaler. Boat has original 115hp johnson that has recently croaked. I have heard that a 90 hp evinrude e-tech is the way to go for my boat. I was told the 90hp e-tech competes with 115hp engines and is more efficient. The problem I am having with making my decision is the fact that its a two stroke and costs as much as a 125 4-stroke. Also is this 90hp going to be enough for the boat? Any advice? Evinrude currently offers a warranty up to 7 years and this also seems to good to pass up.
Also, whats the difference between the e-tech and direct injection?

Thanks for any help. "

" There is a good article about the E-Tec motors in Trailer Boats magazine.
Go to WWW.trailerboats.com
Then to the propulsion section, in the right hand column, and click on E-Ticket.
As with all new motors there is bound to be some problems with the E-Tec motors. I've talked to a few dealers who have run these motors, and the were very impressed. You just have to check out the differences between the 2 and 4 stroke motors and try to make the right choice that you will be satisfied with. "
