My starter gear is frozen so

My starter gear is frozen so I bought a new starter. Put in in exactly like the one I removed. Same model # and everything. It does nothing. Any tips? is there a coil that needs to charge? HELP

" username...Double check your wire connections,power and ground. Make sure your battery isn't dead. There is no coil to charge on the starter but I have seen on a rare occation where the nut on the starter where the power wire connects has been loose on the stud and make poor contact...DJ "

The Mercury starters have rubber grommets that fit around the top and bottom of the starter. This insulates the starter body from the engine so you need to be sure that the starter is grounded to the block.
