"My 1983 force 85 Horse has dropped 1/2 R.P.M.s at W.O.T. (4000 to 2500). This started after trolling and running out of gas. After refill, the engine started fine but refused to run at 4000 even though the throttle plates are wide open. So far I have decarbed the engine; checked the compression (125 on all cylinders), replaced the fuel pumps 3 check valves, gaskets and diaphram along with new gas lines and a new prime bulb. The Carbs have also been cleaned. At idle I can remove the number 1 plug wire and the engine will keep running at reduced R.P.M.s. When taking number 2 or 3 plug wires off, the engine dies.
