25 hp Yamaha will not keep running

" I have a 2001 25 hp 2 cyl Yamaha with low hours. Had been sitting for quite a while. Last time I ran it, it would run okay at low speed and at high speed but not at medium speed. Increasing throttle to high speed it would sort of "kick in" and run. Now I cannot get it to keep running at start up. Runs a little bit and then quits. I have changed the gas to new gas. Seems to be a carb (fuel problem)?????? "

Whenever an engine is not in use for more than a few weeks there is the possibility that the carb will become clogged. This may not be your problem, but I would advise you to remove and rebuild the carb. A clogged jet can destroy an engnine.

(jet and pipes) , but the problem persists.
some friends told me , that might be a problem with the CDI unit.
Now i'm waiting for the results ,from the official yamaha service. "

" I had the same problem with my 40HP 3cyl 2 stroke yamaha engine. I took apart the carbs, cleaned them (did not rebuild them, just cleaned them) and everything works great now. It's not hard to clean them, so cleaning them each year is a good idea. "
