"On the right of the first pics there are 2 holes the top 1 is sealed the 2nd is not, my motor is leaking gear oil from the bottom hole, is this hole supposed to be pluged or sealed or is this just excess oil? Also while I'm at it, in the 2nd pic what is the plug marked "WASH" for (the oil plug is out to drain oil), to hook up a water hose? It's froze and I have just about rounded the slot off, I may have to use a drill and extractor, if it's a must use item.

There is no such thing as exce

There is no such thing as excess oil in a lower unit. All lower units are / should be " sealed " that is no air can get in / no water can get in and no oil can leak out.The hole is merely a casting cavity drain--- do not plug it.Pressure test the lower unit if you are worried about leaking seals.

Stop the guessing and pressure
