"To align the engine and transmission to the propeller shaft you need to loosen up the bolts on the coupler. Then you drag a thin feeler gauge around the mating surface. If the gauge goes in on one side and not on another side then you need adjustment. If the gauge does not go in on any side then it is aligned. To align the engine you need a few tools, like a big pry bar and a few boards in addition to wrenches. You can figure out which way to move the engine and transmission until you get the gap closed. (Be careful not to trash your gel coat in the engine space.)
Keep in mind that setting the alignment on the trailer gives a pretty close alignment. Since the hull flexes a bit differently in the water your final adjustment is best done in the water - some place quiet.
