why doesnt my idle

why doesnt my idle screw rest firmly against anything? soetimes the screw end isnt touching the metal "wheel" its supposed to be touching
 
scott is it possible to adjust

scott is it possible to adjust that plastic barrel on the throttle cable towards the bow of the boat and still maintain a an idle of 700-1000?

how would i do that? when i move the barrel foward my rpms at idle go very high....then when i try to adjust the idle screw it doesnt seem to idle smoothly
 
"adjust idle with cable discon

"adjust idle with cable disconnected. adjust the cable to maintain a slight pressure against the stop. if you try to adjust idle while throttle plates are partly open, you are involving the off-idle circuit, and will never get a proper adjustment."
 
wow you lost me....remove the

wow you lost me....remove the cable completely...then adjust the idle....then reconnect the cable to match the idle screw?
