"I have a 96 3.0L mercruiser.

"I have a 96 3.0L mercruiser. I have to choke to start after every time I kill the motor. It also will not plane out or run very fast if there is more than a couple of people riding, especially when trying to pull a tube. Any suggestions?"

Do as Guy says, start with the basics, have a close look at your s/plugs, they can tell you a tale of what is going on inside of your engine.
You can compare the appearence of the plugs to one of the manufacturers fault pages on their web sites.
Play around with props and you should be able to get that extra leap out of the water you are looking for.
