" 2001 200 HP Mercury EFI would start in my driveway, but would die seconds later. If i tried to throttle up, it would kill. I did this for about 20 minutes on 2 separate days. I took it to the dealer under warranty and the worst happened. It ran fine. So They say there's nothing they can do. I took it home, and it's still running great. I'm worried about going out and getting stranded. Anyone know how this could happen. When having the problem, it seemed to be starved for gas. I DID hear the fuel pump woking, so I'm confused. "

" I had this happen to my 150 efi once and it scared me to death. I thought I had a major problem so I called my mechanic. He pointed me to the problem, I still had the pump up bulb on my fuel line. All these fuel bulbs have a check ball valve in them to keep gas from running back into your tank. Sometimes they get stuck and effectively stop your fuel flow. I took my bulb off my fuel line because the efi motor does not need it and my problem went away. "
