"I took the heat exchanger out

"I took the heat exchanger out of my MD 2040 to clean. After it was re-installed I have noticed salt water coming out of the overflow hose below the radiator cap. The flow increases with RPM increase. I have tried to get a tight seal around the heat exchanger, is there any other way salt (raw) water can get into the cooling (fresh) water?

"Unless the core is bad, no. sounds like core is not centered between end caps.It is tough to get just enough core lip for clamp to hold onto. Clamp on rubber cover seals raw and coolant with separate clamps on core."

"I noticed the nipple for the discharge from the seawater into the exhaust elbow is almost completely clogged. The stuff is hard and will need a drill or something to open up. Before I do this, can anyone confirm that this opening is supposed to be unobstructed. I think the covers are sealed tight but if the discharged is clogged it would create enough back pressure and force seawater into the cooling (fresh water)."
