Vibration amp oil leak from the outdrive res

94 Monterey v6 merc and merc o

94 Monterey v6 merc and merc outdrive.
I have a vibration in the out drive i can not find.
And i have the gear oil in the below and leaking back in the boat under the boat. The resevoir that hold the gear oil is leaking out in the below.
Help!

Sounds a bit like you may have a bearing issue on the input shaft in your upper gear case. If the bearing is flogged on the input shaft the shaft can run out and chew out the seal allowing oil to leak back into the drive shaft bellows area.

I would be draining your gear oil from the leg and looking for any traces of metal in the oil and pulling off the leg at the bell housing and checking your bearings, uni joints, gimble bearing and everything else while you are there.

Thanks Peter! The resevoir on top of the engine is leaking out but all the line looks to be ok. And do you mean the upper gear case on the outdrive behinf the u joints going into the out drive.

Yep, Thats where I would be starting to look, rip the leg off and check everything.
If you havent got a repair manual now is the time to buy one and have a read before you start.
