"Hello, I have a Baja Force with a Mercruiser 7.4.L Carbureted, when i touch the risers at cruising speed (3000-4000 rpm)they are hot to the touch, but when i reduce the speed they get cold very fast. The engine temperature gauge is in the middle of the range.
¿It´s normal this situation? ¿ Do I have a overheating problem?
Thanks."

I've got a lot of recent experience with overheating. It sounds like some kind of blockage. Check the raw water pump. If vanes are broken backflush to find the pieces then check flow. Make sure there is water coming in through the pick-ups. If flow is good pull the risers. They are probably crudded up enough to run at a lower rpm but get hot as the engine demands more water. Mine run almost as cool at idle than at cruising speed. I've done that for both engines in the last month and then some. Good luck.
